Krügerrand 1oz Goldmünze „1980“
The South African Krugerrand is the world’s oldest investment coin and has been minted in gold by the Rand Refinery since 1967. The most famous gold bullion coin was named after the South African politician Paul Kruger (1825-1904), who was President of the South African Republic from 1882 to 1902, and after the local currency, the rand, which has been legal tender in South Africa since 1961. The front shows the namesake Paul Krüger; the back is adorned with the national animal, a springbok antelope. Both motifs have remained unchanged since the start of minting.
